Introducing the new CCNP Data Center certification

Overview

The new CCNP Data Center certification program prepares you for today’s professional-level job roles in data center technologies. CCNP Data Center now includes automation and programmability to help you scale your data center infrastructure.

One of the industry’s most respected certifications, CCNP validates the core knowledge you need while giving you the flexibility to choose a focus area.

And now every exam in the CCNP Data Center program earns an individual Specialist certification, so you get recognized for your accomplishments along the way.

Prerequisites

There are no formal prerequisites for CCNP Data Center, but you should have a good understanding of the exam topics before taking the exam.

CCNP candidates often also have three to five years of experience implementing data center solutions.

Exams and recommended training

New exams go live on February 24, 2020

To earn CCNP Data Center, you pass two exams: a core exam and a data center concentration exam of your choice.

  • The core exam focuses on your knowledge of data center infrastructure. The core exam is also the qualifying exam for CCIE Data Center certification. Passing this exam helps toward earning both of these certifications.
  • Concentration exams focus on emerging and industry-specific topics. You can prepare for concentration exams by taking their corresponding Cisco training courses.

Migrating to the new program

The new CCNP Data Center certification replaces the current CCNP Data Center certification.

If you have started working toward the current CCNP Data Center certification, keep going. In the new program, you’ll receive credit for work you’ve completed in the current certification.

  • If you pass any exams in the current certification before February 24, you’ll receive badging for corresponding new exams and credit toward the new CCNP Data Center certification.
  • If you complete the current certification before February 24, you’ll receive the new CCNP Data Center certification and badging for corresponding technologies—data center core technologies, application-centric infrastructure, design, or operations.
